Foundation Day of IGNCA Kala Nidhi
IGNCA Kala Nidhi Division observes 34th Foundation Day, with academic discussions to film festivals
New Delhi/IBNS: Interdisciplinary studies, the importance of literary museums, the need for a ‘national register’ of Indian culture and heritage, were some of the key aspects discussed during the 34th Foundation Day celebration of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) Kala Nidhi Division, held in New Delhi.
The occasion was marked by the release of subject-wise ‘Descriptive E- catalogues of Microfilmed Manuscripts in Kala Nidhi’, IGNCA, ‘Catalogues on Brunners’ Oeuvre from the collection of Kala Nidhi, Cultural Archives IGNCA’ and Kalakalpa journal ‘Basant Panchmi’.
Prof. Ramesh Chandra Bhardwaj while appreciating the works of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, among other things said, “The biggest question before us is that of national emotional unity. This question can be solved and answered only through the culture of India.”
Both the morning and afternoon sessions were chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA while the welcome address was delivered by Prof. Ramesh Chandra Gaur, Head of Department, Kala Nidhi Division, IGNCA.
An exhibition on ‘Aesthetic Expression of Calligraphy Style of Constitution of India’ was also organised.
Prof. Sachichidanand Joshi emphasized that interdisciplinary study is very important in today’s context and said that the divisions of IGNCA are interdependent and work in tandem with each other.
Speaking about the division, he said “Kala Nidhi is a reference point of Indian art and culture.”
Prof. Ramesh Chandra Gaur, who delivered the welcome address, said that a library is the heart of an academic institution.
He spoke about the work done in the field of literary museums in India and Asia, which is apparently a new field, and gave details of the ‘manuscript mission’.
Prof. Ramesh Chandra Bhardawaj, Vice- Chancellor, Maharshi Valmiki Sanskrit University, Kaithal, Haryana was present at the morning session.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr D R Gupta.
The programme concluded with a cultural presentation titled ‘Kshatraa Baalaa’
.
Presented by Prabal Gupta, it was an ode to ‘The Great Martyrs of the Nation’ through a mixed performance which included elements of Kathakali dance and modern theatre.
Separately, to mark the occasion, the Kala Nidhi Division in collaboration with the Embassy of Russian Federation in India, Russian House, New Delhi held an International Conference and Film Festival on 'Genius Loci: Literary Museums in Russia and India'.
The chief guest at the event was Denis Alipov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in India was the chief guest while the keynote speaker was Vladimir Tolstoy, Adviser on Culture to the President of Russian Federation.
The programme was also attended by Mugdha Sinha from the Union Ministry of Culture, A M Sholokhov, Deputy Chairperson of Committee on Culture, State Duma (Parliament) of the Russian Federation and Oleg Osipov, Director, Russian House, New Delhi.
