GNIT to organise COVID-19 Hackathon Grand Finale tomorrow

Kolkata/IBNS: The Grand Finale of COVID-19 Hackathon will be organized by Guru Nanak Institute of Technology(GNIT), a flagship college of JIS Group on Sunday.

This event is organized by the Institute Innovation Cell (IIC ) of GNIT under MHRD, Govt of India in association with The Institution of Engineers (IE) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

The preliminary round took place on Mar 26, 2020 where students across India participated, some having very innovative and potential ideas to combat COVID-19 in different areas.

Simarpreet Singh, Director of The JIS Group stated, "The COVID-19 Hackathon is a potential and mostly needed initiative taken by GNIT in this global pandemic scenario, where students from across India participated. The organizers have received 123 ideas from all across India out of which 58 had very  good potentiality. On evaluation 28 teams have been identified for prototype development for the final round."

The first place awardee will receive rupees fifty thousand, and the next best 4 teams will be awarded by Rs. 10000/- each team including one distinguished category of Girls Team. 

“The Grand Finale is on 10 May 2020. The five  best teams will be awarded and their project will be carried forward by Institutions E-Cell which is under IIC MHRD, Govt. of India”, stated Prof (Dr.) Santanu Kr. Sen, Principal, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology.
