Woman killed by leopard in Nainital forest division

Haldwani/UNI: A 60-year-old woman killed when she was attacked by a leopard at Nainital Forest Division of Uttarakhand, Forest department said on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Pushpa Devi, was the resident of Kathgodam area.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Nainital Forest division Biju Lal T.R told UNI that the incident took place on Saturday morning in the Ranibagh Compartment No.8 of the Manora Forest range.

He said, "This is the second such incident that took place in the border area of Nainital Ramnagar and Haldwani Forest division in less than a week".

The official said that compensation of Rupees Three lakh will be given to the family of the deceased on Monday after the completion of the necessary formalities.
