Thirteen new COVID-19 cases reported in last 24 hrs in Chhattisgarh

Raipur/UNI: Thirteen new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection were reported from Katghora town of Korba district in Chhattisgarh during last 24 hours. With these new cases, the number of Coronavirus infected patients in the state has increased to 31.

However, ten Coronavirus infected patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery so far.

According to information received from health department, seven more samples that were collected from Purani Basti area of Katghora town tested positive. All seven patients were brought from Katghora to Raipur last night and admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur for treatment. Meanwhile six more persons including a woman were found infected with Coronavirus today. They too were brought to Raipur and admitted at AIIMS Raipur for treatment.

With these six new cases the number of Coronavirus infected patients admitted at AIIMS Raipur rose to 21. Fifteen infected patients are already undergoing treatment at AIIMS.

All of them are residents are Purani Basti area of Katghora town. It is suspected that they might have been infected with Coronavirus after coming in contact with an infected boy of Tablighi Jamaat. This 16-year old boy belonging to Tablighi Jamaat was discharged from AIIMS Raipur after recovery two days back.

With report of Coronavirus infection in eight persons during 24 hours last Thursday, Kotghora was announced as most sensitive area. Total 30 teams of health workers are visiting door to door to identify and screen suspected Coronavirus patients in Katghora with creation of containment zone in the area.

Out of total 31 Coronavirus infected patients found in the state so far, 10 were discharged from hospitals after recovery. Eight patients were discharged from AIIMS Raipur whereas one was discharged from Rajnandgaon Medical College and one from Apollo Hospital Bilaspur.
