Mother elephant rescues calf stuck on road, video melts internet

A viral video of a mother elephant rescuing her calf, shared by Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan, has melted the internet by perfectly capturing compassion in the wild.

The 17-second clip shows a baby elephant struggling to climb up a roadside slope. Within moments, its mother and another elephant rush to help, gently nudging and pushing the calf until it manages to get back on its feet.

“That mother-calf duo. Nobody should leave behind,” Kaswan captioned the clip, which has now been widely shared across social media platforms. In the video, a few people can be seen patiently waiting from a distance as the herd safely crosses the road.

The touching video has gone viral on the internet, with users praising the elephants’ bond and teamwork.

“Such pure love in the wild. Nature’s best lesson in patience and protection,” one user commented.

Another wrote, “Mother-aunt-calf bonding is so heartwarming.”

Many also noticed the elephants’ considerate behaviour while crossing.

“The way the trio hurried across the road — it felt like they didn’t want to hold up the traffic. Honestly, they seem to have better civic sense than humans,” joked another user.

One comment read, “It’s adorable how the whole herd protects the calves — and hilarious how this little one just rolls around while being helped up.”

Just last week, Kaswan shared another emotional clip of a 15-day-old elephant calf rescued from floodwaters.

Forest officials had tried to reunite the baby with its mother, but sadly, the calf was rejected by the herd.
