MCL conducts plantation drive in Meghalaya

Guwahati, Aug 13 (IBNS) : A plantation drive was organized by Meghalaya Cement Limited (MCL) to protect environment by planting 40,000 saplings of 53 species on Saturday in the industrial premise of MCL in Meghalaya.

The plantation programme has been organized to embank the motto “Live Green-Save Environment-Save Earth” and it was guided and supervised by senior environmental engineer of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Shantanu Dutta as per Akira Miyawaki method.

Shantanu Dutta said the Miyawaki method is a form of dense plantation to recreate multi layer dense forest.

The drive was conducted under leadership of MCL, which manufactures Topcem Cement Resident Director SK Rai and President RK Pareek and school children, teachers were took part in the plantation event.

The mega event was attended by Meghalaya government parliamentary secretary Justin Dkhar, Principal of North Eastern College Phervision Nongtdu and several local people.
