Hyderabad/UNI: The elusive leopard which created panic among the residents of Katedan locality on the outskirts of the city on Thursday was yet to be traced on Saturday.

The leopard, believed to be injured in one leg and resting on the Katedan median of a road under bridge, sprang up and ran away into a nearby farm house after a large number of people gathered to see the wild animal.

Forest officials and police along with the Nehru Zoological park rescue team have been making strenuous efforts with the help of baits, traps and CCTV cameras for the last two days to trap the leopard but to no avail.

Local people near the Himayathsagar lake on the city outskirts informed the police that they had seen the leopard drinking water in the lake on Saturday morning.

Forest officials believe that the leopard may have entered the Chevella forest in Rangareddy district.
