New Delhi/IBNS: India recorded 2,40,842 new Covid cases and 3,741 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry stated on Sunday morning.

With the fresh infections, India's overall case count surged to 2,65,30,132 this morning.

The total fatality count is also nearing the 3 lakh mark, the health ministry data showed.

Meanwhile, amid the pandemic, India is also facing the problem of Black Fungus or Mucormycosis developed in Covid patients.

Nearly 9,000 patients have been affected by the Black Fungus so far, the centre has said, underlining that it's trying to ramp up the production of medicine required.

The Government of India said it is supporting states and UTs in procuring drugs and diagnostics for COVID19 management through a “Whole of Government” approach.
