India records 2.11 lakh COVID-19 cases, 3,847 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: Over 2.11 lakh new COVID-19 cases and 3,847 deaths apparently due to the infection were reported in the last 24 hours in the South Asian country India.

With 2,11,298 new infections, the country's caseload has further surged to 27,369,093.

The COVID-19 toll has further increased to 3,15,235.

The active cases in the country have dipped further to 24,199,07 while the national recovery percentage has further improved to 89.66%.

'Vaccine absolutely important to save lives, defeat COVID-19'

Stating that the planet will not be the same after COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said vaccines are absolutely important to save lives and defeat the pandemic.

Delivering a keynote address on the occasion of 'Vesak Global Celebrations' on Buddha Purnima through video conference, Modi said, "The economic impact left by the pandemic is huge and our planet will not be the same after COVID-19."

"There have been many note-worthy improvements as well over the last year, like having a better understanding of the pandemic, which strengthens our strategy to fight it and having the vaccine, which is absolutely important to save lives and defeat the pandemic," the Prime Minister said.
