India fights: COVID-19 tally crosses 40,000 mark, death toll touches 1306

New Delhi/IBNS: India on Sunday crossed the psychological mark of 40,000 COVID-19 infected patients in the country as the death toll due to the deadly vrus now stands at 1306, as per released Ministry of Health data.

The country has registered 40,263 positive cases so far.

However, giving some positive hope in the battle against the virus, the country has also seen recovery of 10886 patients.

There are 28070 active COVID-19 cases in the country at present.

Maharashtra still topped the charts of most hit state with 12,296 and fatalities at 521.

India touched the 40,000 mark just a day ahead of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)’s guidelines for a graded relaxation of lockdown kick in.
