Srinagar/IBNS: Srinagar has recorded the highest number of cured cases of covid19 patients among all districts of Kashmir.

The number of cured people who were infected with coronavirus since its outbreak in Srinagar is 85,772 followed by the Baramulla district with 30,575 cured cases.

The cumulative number of people who were cured after being infected with covid19 in Kashmir is 2,44,185, while the active number of cases in Kashmir is 29,832.

The active cases in Srinagar alone is 12,018 while the cumulative number of infected people is 98,687.

Out of this figure, 85,772 have successfully received treatment and are cured, the official data said.

On Sunday, Srinagar reported 899 positive cases which included five travelers, 576 locals and 308 contacts.

Hazratbal medical zone reported 41 covid positive cases, followed by Zadibal medical zone 32,  Batamaloo medical zone 31, Khanyar zone 14 and SR Gunj block with 10.

The current positivity rate of the virus in these five medical zones of Srinagar remained 6.24 percent.

Confirming the figures, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir's spokesperson Dr Mir Mushtaq told Greater Kashmir that Srinagar district is most populated and congested.

“Further, the people arriving from out of Kashmir are also tested in Srinagar. Therefore, when they test positive, they are listed in the Srinagar chart and not in the chart of their respective district," he said.

"That is also one of the reasons that Srinagar figures mostly on top in the number of COVID19 positive cases,” he added.
