Delhi: The national capital and its adjoining cities felt tremors around 8 pm on Saturday as an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 hit the region, media reports said.

The epicentre of the quake was in Nepal, reported the National Center for Seismology.

According to Nepal's earthquake monitoring body, the epicentre was at Patadewal in Bajhang district and the exact time was 8.12 pm local time or 7.57 pm in India.

The jolts were felt in Noida and Gurugram, apart from other areas in Haryana and UP, and Uttarakhand.

Media reports said that the impact was strong enough to prompt many people to come out of their homes.

Tremors were felt in Delhi and other parts of north India on Tuesday night, too, around 2 am after a 6.3-magnitude quake struck in Nepal.
