BITM holds Earth Day programmes for school children
Kolkata, Apr 22 (IBNS) Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), an organisation under the National Council of Science Museums, Union Ministry of Culture observed Earth Day on Friday through programmes aiming to acquaint school children with the most compelling environmental problems that the world is facing today.
The programme highlighted on issues such as pollution, depletion of greeneries and overall degradation of environment.
A number of activities were organised on the theme of Mother Earth and how to protect her.
A workshop on urban gardening in collaboration with Agri-Horticultural Society of India and South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE) informed the school students about planting trees, at the end of which they were given some saplings.
Painting competitions, quiz, extempore speeches competition etc were also organised in which about 150 school children from Kendriya Vidyalaya and a number of private schools in and around Kolkata participated.
