821 passengers being tracked for Ebola: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): The Health Ministry on Thursday said that as many as 821 passengers, most of them from Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, were being tracked for Ebola in the country, media reports said.

State Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) units are tracking such passengers. The details are being provided by the Airport Health Organisation, a Health Ministry communiqué said.

“Today, 45 passengers were enrolled for follow up through state IDSP units. As many as 821 passengers are being tracked. Most of them are in Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu," the release said.

It said that at least 148 passengers have arrived so far from Ebola-hit countries of which 92 passengers arrived in the Delhi airport, 30 in Mumbai, 15 in Bangalore, eight in Kochi and three in Chennai in the last 24 hours.

"One passenger travelling from Nigeria has been found symptomatic and quarantined at isolation facility at Delhi airport. Her report is awaited,” the release said.
