6.2 earthquake hit Lombok Island, no casualty so far

Jakarta, Aug 28 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale hit Indonesia's Lombok Island on Tuesday, as per United States Geological Survey website.

The epicentre of the quake was located at south-east of Kupang area in the country.

It hit at a depth of 8.6 kms, said the USGS website.

No tsunami warning has been issued so far.

No casualty has been reported so far.

Multi-strong quakes have hit Lombok Island in the past few weeks.

Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east.

It is a popular tourist destination in the Island nation.
