6.1 earthquake hits Japan, 3 die

Osaka, June 18 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale hit  Osaka and other parts of western Japan on Monday, leaving at least three people dead, media reports said.

The incident left few others injured.

The 7:58 a.m. quake occurred at a depth of about 13 kilometers in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture, where it registered lower 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, reported Kyosdo News of Japan.

As per media reports, minor injuries were reported from  Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto and Mie prefectures.

Dozens of fire incidents have been reported as well.
