VMCS gets affilation from IDBI Bank as Business Correspondents

Kolkata, Jan 6 (IBNS) : IDBI Bank has appointed VMCS, a sister concern of Village Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading microfinance institution of West Bengal (VFS), as one of its Business Correspondents (BC) in the state.

Having received this affiliation from IDBI Bank as Its BC, VMCS will now represent this bank in the remote places to reach out to the unbanked people with basic banking services. VMCS announces opening of 6 new branches at Gurap, Mogra, Brishibpur, Kalyanpur, Berachampa and Baduria on the very first week of this New Year.

These new branches are located in Howrah, Hooghly and North 24 Pargannas districts of West Bengal.

Speaking on the development, Kuldip Maity, M.D & CEO, Village Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are very happy to have partnered with an institution like IDBI Bank. I believe that among the major initiative to address Financial Inclusion, one of the most important has been the introduction of the Business Correspondent Model (BC model). This model is really an innovative way of serving the unbanked. VMCS will act as an external agent of IDBI bank to reach out to underserved people through our network.”

“With the objective of ensuring greater financial inclusion and increasing the outreach, we are looking at partnering with other banks also,” Maity added.
