TCS signs 10-yr partnership with Brazilian education and research institute Insper, invests $8.6 million
São Paulo/ Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered a 10-year strategic partnership with Insper, a prominent Brazilian higher education and research institution, aimed at accelerating industry innovation for TCS clients in South America through advanced technologies like AI, GenAI, IoT, and spatial computing.
In order to achieve the goal, it will also invest R$ 50 million (about $8.6 million) to accelerate innovation across South America.
The collaboration will encompass academic research, technology prototype development, and events like seminars, hackathons, and tech talks, utilizing TCS’s Pace methodology to scale innovation.
This alliance will grant TCS customers exclusive access to cutting-edge research and technological advancements combined with Insper’s academic resources, labs, and ecosystem.
“The common idea between the two institutions is to establish a bridge with the market to serve companies with different profiles more effectively.
"This partnership will allow us the access to academic expertise, ability to collaborate with the business and engineering capabilities Insper possesses, build a collaboration space for our customers to visit and bring the business, environmental and societal changes in Brazil for the better through our customers,” said Bruno Rocha, Country Head at TCS Brazil.
Through this partnership, TCS and Insper will drive innovation across various sectors, including banking, financial services, insurance, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, and life sciences.
Proposed research projects include satellite-based geo-sensing to optimize Brazilian crop yields, minimizing offshore oil rig downtime, and accelerating drug development with AI.
In a filing with the BSE, TCS stated that the proposed research initiatives with Insper will focus on using satellite-based geo-sensing to improve crop yields, minimizing downtime for offshore oil rigs, and leveraging AI to expedite new drug development.
TCS added that it will provide its regional customers with exclusive access to advanced research and innovation resources, drawing on Insper’s academic expertise, ecosystem, labs, and specialized resources.
By integrating physical assets and partner technologies, TCS will work with clients to co-create solutions tailored to enhance digital capabilities, operational efficiency, and competitiveness in an evolving market.

The partnership underscores TCS’s expanding presence in Brazil, where it has operated for over 20 years.
Recently, TCS launched a delivery center in Londrina, Paraná, aimed at creating more than 1,600 jobs within five years.
With operations in Londrina, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro, TCS serves over 140 clients across banking, insurance, mining, retail, and telecommunications.
TCS has been recognized as a Top Employer in Brazil for 10 consecutive years and received a diversity seal from São Paulo state in 2022.
