Kolkata,Oct 27 (IBNS) Tata Docomo, the unified telecom service brand of Tata Teleservices Limited on Monday said that it has launched Smart Bus Tracking Services for schools in Kolkata.

Tata Docomo Smart Bus Tracking service allows the school and the parents to track and monitor the school bus during its entire journey starting from pickup point to final drop.

Tata Docomo Smart Bus Tracking service gives real-time updates to schools on over speeding, route deviation, undue stoppage, thus ensuring better control on safety measures by the school.

Additionally, this service also informs parents about the schedule of the bus arrival, just minutes before the pick-up and drop time through SMS alerts.

This makes it very convenient for the parents as they don’t have to wait for long while dropping or picking their child.

“As technology evolves, mobile phones have become ubiquitous, and have evolved from being utility products to lifestyle products, touching aspects ranging from entertainment to information, and now security too,” said Sunil Tandon, Head of Non Voice Services at Tata Docomo.

He elaborated further, “Child safety is a prime concern, and will continue to be so. We have integrated technology of a device, location tracking and analytics to ease the anxiety of parents on their child’s safety and security aspects. At the same time this service helps the schools ensure control over transport logistics, driving discipline and helps monitor the speed limits for the safety and security of children.”

Tata Docomo Smart Bus Tracking service operates through an integrated mechanism wherein, a device is installed in the school bus in a safe and tamper-proof location.

The device talks to a high-end application server which interprets the information on a real time basis and provides information on various security aspects like overspeeding, undue stoppages, route deviation, and many more, in user friendly feeds like online viewing, SMS alerts, and email alerts.

Accessibility through a single portal enables schools to seamlessly track the location of any school bus on their fleet at any point thereby keeping control on drivers.

Some of the prominent city schools are currently using this service, which include Indus valley International School and Sri Sri Academy.
