Sensex touches new peak at 73,057.40 pts

Extending rally for the sixth straight session on Tuesday the Sensex breached 73K level to finish at 73,057.40 surging 349.24 pts on the strength of Bankex, Realty and Power stocks despite weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 74.70 pts at 22,196.95.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,215.60 and 22,045.85 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened at 72727.87, rising 17 pts. During the day's it was spurted 422 pts at 73,130.69, days high before closing at 73,057.40, rallied by 349.24 pts from its previous close.

The sticks like Bankex, Realty and Power kept the rally intact for the sixth consecutive session.

The Mid Cap easd 0.17 pc and Small Cap by 0.18 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.

The gainers were Powergrid by 4.16 pc to Rs 287.95, HDFC bank by 2.53 pc to Rs 1452.90, Axis Bank by 2.37 pc to Rs 1088.80, Kotak Bank by 2.05 pc to Rs 1767 and NTPC by 2.01 pc to Rs 345.65.

The losers were TCS by 1.55 pc to Rs 1403.80, JSW Steel by 0.96 pc to Rs 812.20, HCL Technology by 0.85 pc to Rs 1660.50 and Bajaj Finserv by 0.82 pc to Rs 1606.80.
