Sensex surges 454.67 pts at closing, Nifty above 21900

The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied 454.67 pts to close high at 72,186.09 on the strength of Oil and Gas, IT, Telecommunications and Energy stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 157.70 pts at 21,929.40.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,951.40 and 21,737.55 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened at 71,970.82 up 239 pts. During the day it was spurted 530 pts at 72,261.40, days high, before closing at 72,186.09, rallied 454.67 pts from its previous close.

The stocks include Oil and Gas, IT, Energy and Telecommunications stocks kept the up.

Oil and gas went up by 3.02 pc, IT by 2.94 pc, Telecommunications by 2.17 pc and Energy by 2.07 pc.

The Mid Cap was gained 1.06 pc and Small Cap by 1.23 pc.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were HCL Technology by 4.57 pc to by 1626.15, TCS by 3.94 pc to be 4129.10, Maruti Suzuki by 3.84 pc to Rs 10,825.90, Wipro by 3.46 pc to Rs 499 and L& T by 2.53 pc to be Rs 3425.

The losers were Powergrid by 2.74 pc to Rs 275, IndusInd Bank by 1.64 pc to Rs 1554, ITC by 1.45 pc to Rs 431.70 and Kotak Bank by 1.03 pc to Rs 1791.
