Tata Group-backed jewellery major CaratLane's Managing Director Saumen Bhaumik said the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are unlikely to impact domestic jewellery sales during India's upcoming festive season.

Speaking to IBNS on the sidelines of the launch of CaratLane's flagship store in Kolkata's Gariahat area, Bhaumik said geopolitical volatility has been a recurring phenomenon and should not be a major concern for India's jewellery market.

"It has been going on for some time. It is not like it started yesterday. This kind of volatility will come and go. India's domestic requirement is quite high. So, I don't think we should worry about the world outside at present. We don't think we need to have sleepless nights at present," he said.

Bhaumik said CaratLane also plans to expand its retail presence in the Middle East, although the company will wait for the situation in the region to stabilise.

"Opening a new store in the Middle East needs to wait until the situation settles there," he said.

"Our focus will continue to reach as many places as we can through the online channel," he added.

Bhaumik also said the company's stores in Dallas and New Jersey have been performing strongly.

Earlier this year, CaratLane opened its second retail store in the United States in Frisco, Dallas, Texas.

Meanwhile, as part of its continued expansion in eastern India, CaratLane on Wednesday launched its new flagship store in Gariahat, Kolkata.

With a growing retail network of more than 388 stores, including 69 stores in the eastern region, the Gariahat outlet is among CaratLane's flagship stores nationally.

In West Bengal, the brand currently operates 31 stores across 11 cities and plans to increase the number to 35 as part of its longer-term growth strategy for the state.

Speaking about the new Gariahat store, Bhaumik said Kolkata remains a key market for CaratLane, supported by strong cultural roots and growing demand for contemporary jewellery designs.

"Kolkata is a key market for CaratLane, driven by strong cultural roots and an appetite for contemporary design. Opening our Gariahat flagship, which thoughtfully incorporates regional flavours into its design and decor, marks an important milestone as we scale to over 35 stores in West Bengal. As part of our commitment to Eastern India, we look forward to bringing our distinctive retail experience to even more customers across the region," he said.

CaratLane recently unveiled two new collections, Kaashika and Polki, showcased by the company's brand ambassador Yami Gautam Dhar.

To connect with a younger demographic, the brand has also partnered with actor Ashlesha Thakur following the launch of Shaya Diamonds and its contemporary everyday 9kt gold jewellery collection.

The brand recorded 42% growth in Q1 FY27, along with a 28% increase in its buyer base.

Building on this momentum, CaratLane plans to strengthen its presence across the eastern region by opening 5–7 new stores over the coming months.

The expansion forms part of CaratLane's broader growth strategy for FY27, with the brand targeting the addition of 40–50 new stores during the financial year.
