Indian Market: Sensex zooms by 1019.46 points this week
Mumbai/UNI: The Sensex zoomed by 1,019.46 points or 2.26 pc to settle at 46,099.01 in a week under review on positive global cues and hopes for vaccine approvals in India boosted investor sentiment.
Sentiment was underpinned by data showing a steady decline in new coronavirus cases in India.
The Nifty 50 index rose 255.30 points or 1.93 pc to settle at 13,513.85.
The BSE Mid-Cap gained 132.30 or 0.76 pc to settle at 17,521.32.
BSE Small-Cap added 235.29 points or 1.36 pc to settle at 17,552.58.
Except Thursday, the equity market remained firm during the week.
On Monday the Sensex, jumped 347.42 points to settle at 45,426.97. Nifty gained 97.20 points to settle at 13,355.75.
On Tuesday the Sensex, gained 181.54 points to settle at 45,608.51. Nifty too gained 37.20 points to settle at 13,392.95.
On Wednesday the Sensex, rallied 494.99 points to settle at 46,103.50. Nifty added 136.15 points to settle at 13,529.10.
On Thursday as investors locked profit after recent steep gains.Sensex, lost 143.62 points to settle at 45,959.88. Nifty lost 50.80 points to settle at 13,478.30.
On Friday, December 11,2020. Sensex, rose 139.13 points to settle at 46,099.01. Nifty gained 35.55 points to settle at 13,513.85.
