Indian Market: Sensex up over 200 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday jumped 238 pts to open at 55,345.51 on the strength of Consumer Durable, Metal, Realty and Power stocks ahead of RBI Monetary Policy today.

The Nifty too rose 58 pts at 16,474.95.

The sensex registered days high and low at 55,361.49 and 55,082.07 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,485.70 and 16,403.20 pts respectively.

The Mid cap declined 0.06 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.06 pc.

In 30 scrips, 14 advanced, 14 declined and one was unchanged.

The gainers were Tata Steel by 0.89 pc to Rs 1078.10, Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.58 pc to Rs 4166.25, Kotak Bank by 0.56 pc to Rs 1868.15, NTPC by 0.51 pc to Rs 158.05 and SBI by 0.50 pc to Rs 669.05.

The losers were Nestle India by 1.04 pc to Rs 16,588.05, Maruti Suzuki by 0.63 pc to Rs 7759.35, Bharti Airtel by 0.59 pc to Rs 681.85 and Hind Unilever by 0.37 pc to Rs 2202.80.
