Indian market: Sensex up 94.05 pts

The BSE Sensex remained on top for the eighth straight session on Tuesday, as it advanced 94.05 pts to close high at 67,221.13 on the strength of Technology and IT stocks.

While, the Nifty fell by 3.15 pts at 19,993.20 pts.

Despite volatile market, the equity market in green only.

As the Sensex opened higher at 67,506.88,up 379 pts. it was spurted 412 pts at 67,539.10, days high before closing at 67,221.13, up 94.02 pts from its previous close.

During the day, it was 179 pts at 66,948.18, days low.

The stocks like Technology and IT remained positive however, Oil and Gas, Power and Realty dragged the market.

The Mid Cap declined by 2.96 pc and Small Cap by 4.02 pc.

In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.

The gainers were TCS by 2.75 pc to Rs 3575, L& T by 1.83 pc to Rs 2947.05, Infosys by 1.74 pc to Rs 1502 and Ultracemco by 1.49 pc to be 8585.75.

The losers were NTPC by 3.48 pc to Rs 234.50, Powergrid by 3.18 pc to Rs 192, Tata Motors by 2.13 pc to Rs 621.15 and M& M by 1.90 pc to Rs 1552.10.

The Asian Market too remained weak, as Strait Times fell by 0.12 pc, Hang Seng by 0.39 pc and Kospi by 0.80 pc.
