Indian Market: Sensex up 279 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 279 points at 59,482.63 in opening trade as buying was seen in finance services, health care and IT stocks.

The Nifty too surged 69.20 points at 17,633.15.

The Sensex registered an intra-day high and low at 59,549.66 and 59,342.76 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded an intra day high and low at 17,657.65 and 17,603.70 points respectively.

The Mid Cap declined by 0.09 per cent while Small Cap rose by 0.14 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were Axis Bank by 5.73 per cent to Rs 873.50, Kotak Bank by 1.90 per cent to Rs 1,900, Hind Unilever by 1.81 per cent to Rs 2,647.20, Ultracemco by 1.68 per cent to Rs 6,407.75 and ICICI Bank by 0.16 per cent to Rs 903.

The losers were Asian Paints by 1.77 per cent to Rs 3,086, IndusInd Bank by 1.07 per cent to Rs 1,148.60 and Bajaj Finserv by 0.71 per cent to Rs 1,713.
