Indian Market: Sensex rises 37.08 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rose marginally by 37.08 pts to settle at 60,978.75 on the strength of Auto, Consumer Durable, Technology and IT stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended negative at 18,118.30, fell 0.25 pc.

The sensex opened higher at 61,122.20 pts, up 181 pts. During the session, it was surged 325 pts at 61,266.06, days high, before closing at 60,978.75, advancing 37.08 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices like Auto, Consumer Durable, Technology and IT stocks went up.

In scrips, Tata Motors was a major gainer, up 3.26 pc to Rs 421.75, Maruti Suzuki by 3.23 pc to Rs 8695, HCL Technology by 1.37 pc to Rs 1136.55 and HDFC Bank by 1.17 pc to Rs 1692.20.

The losers were Axis Bank by 2.43 pc to Rs 910.70, Powergrid by 1.76 pc to Rs 221, L& T by 1.40 pc to Rs 2202 and Tata Steel by 1.30 pc to Rs 120.40.
