IMF forecasts 7.4 pct growth for India in FY19

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IBNS): Giving positive report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday forecast that India will grow at 7.4% in FY19.

The figure of India's growth, as put up by IMF, was 6.7% this year 6.7% this year.

It will gain pace and touch 7.8% in FY20, the IMF website said as it revealed in January update of the World Economic Outlook: Brighter Prospects, Optimistic Markets, Challenges Ahead.

For neighbour China, IMF forecast said it will grow 6.8% this year, just ahead of India but will slip to 6.6% next year.

The forecast said the USA will grow at a rate of 2.7% and 2.5% in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Meanwhile, the figures were revealed at a time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently visiting Davos to attend the World Economic Forum.

Modi is the first Indian PM to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos in 20 years.

PM would make a keynote speech at the Plenary of the Forum.

He has already hosted a roundtable meeting with top CEOs of the world.
