New Delhi/UNI: In view of difficulties faced by exporters arising out of Russia-Ukraine crisis, Commerce Ministry has set up a helpdesk to support and seek suitable resolutions to issues related to trade.

Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) will also hold weekly meetings with concerned stakeholders to seek inputs and solve the problems.

"In view of the current international situation, Department of Commerce and DGFT have undertaken to monitor the status and related difficulties being faced by stakeholders on Russia/Ukraine trade related issues," an official circular said on Friday.

"Department of Commerce/DGFT has operationalised a Helpdesk to support and seek suitable resolutions to issues related to India's International Trade in this regard with immediate effect," it further said.

Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) had on Thursday urged the government to expedite clearances to shipments which are at the ports or in the voyage following Russian military action in Ukraine.

Reacting to the question of impact of US sanctions on Russia following the hostilities between Ukraine and Russia, FIEO President had said that the crisis had added to the uncertainty for exporters.

The industry body advised exporters to wait and watch as the exact implication of banking and financial sanctions needed to be evaluated.
