EPF interest rate increased to 8.8%

New Delhi, Apr 29 (IBNS) In a major move, the government on Friday decided to increase interest rate on provident fund deposits to from 8.7 per cent to 8.8 per cent as was thought earlier.

As per the new decision, deposits will earn 8.8% interest for 2015-16 session.

The Finance Ministry recently approved an interest rate of 8.7% on the EPF.

Central trade unions on Friday are observing a day-long strike to protest against the ministry's decision  over interest rates.
