Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL), one of India's leading integrated metal producers, on Wednesday announced the successful commissioning of its new 1.5 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum) Beneficiation Plant in Sambalpur (Odisha).

Representing a capital investment of ₹150 Crore, the newly operational facility will upgrade low-grade ore into high-quality feedstock, driving raw material optimization and significantly enhancing profitability.

Strategic Highlights & Operational Benefits

Commercial Production Live: The plant is now fully operational, processing low-grade ore and seamlessly delivering high-grade feedstock to downstream operations.

Maximized Resource Efficiency: Upgrading lower-grade minerals extends mine life, minimizes waste, and ensures optimal utilization of existing reserves.

Margin Expansion: Processing low-grade ore in-house significantly reduces reliance on costly external feedstock, creating strong cost synergies and boosting overall operating margins.

Consistent Quality: Cutting-edge beneficiation technology ensures a uniform, premium-grade input, improving yield and throughput across manufacturing lines.

Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director, Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, said: "Commissioning of our 1.5 MTPA facility marks a transformative milestone for Shyam Metalics, This ₹150 Crore facility is already delivering on its operational promises—maximizing the value of our raw material base, lowering overall production costs, and immediately strengthening our bottom line."
