Ashok Leyland June sales steady with 3% monthly growth in total vehicle dispatches
Chennai: Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, reported a 3% year-on-year growth in total vehicle sales (domestic plus exports) for June 2025, with 15,333 units dispatched compared to 14,940 units in the same month last year.
The company’s medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) bus segment was the standout performer in June, registering a robust 56% increase, rising to 3,172 units from 2,030 units a year earlier.
Cumulative sales in this category for FY26 so far also showed a healthy 12% increase, reaching 7,689 units versus 6,864 in the year-ago period.
Sales of M&HCV trucks, however, declined by 11% to 6,657 units in June, down from 7,489 units in June 2024.
Cumulatively, truck sales dipped 3% to 20,382 units for the fiscal year to date.
Overall M&HCV sales stood at 9,829 units, up 3% from 9,519 units in June last year, while year-to-date M&HCV sales in FY26 remained largely flat at 28,071 units (up 1%).
The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment remained stable with a 2% increase in monthly sales to 5,504 units in June 2025, compared to 5,421 units in the same period last year.
On a cumulative basis, LCV sales rose 1% to 16,167 units.
In the domestic market, total vehicle sales for June came in at 14,184 units, marginally lower than 14,261 units last year, reflecting a 1% decline.
The company attributed this largely to a 12% drop in M&HCV truck volumes. However, domestic M&HCV bus sales grew 42%, signalling strong demand recovery in public transport.
Ashok Leyland’s cumulative domestic vehicle sales for FY26 now stand at 41,227 units, compared to 41,559 units in the same period last year.
Despite pressures in the truck segment, the company’s overall performance reflects resilience driven by demand for buses and consistent LCV sales, helping sustain growth momentum amid a mixed market environment.
