Kolkata/IBNS: More than 600 national and international brands participated in the Garment Fair recently organised in Kolkata by the West Bengal Garment Manufactures and Dealers Association.

The association organizes the Garment Fair and B2B Expo twice a year to build West Bengal as a strong hub in the global textile supply chain and also to help the business in the state to remain competitive in the market.

This edition of the Fair was a special occasion as it marked the 50th year of the Garment Buyers and Sellers Meet organised by the association.

The exhibition was mostly focused on garments for kids.

West Bengal's Finance Minister, Amit Mitra, who also handles the ministries of Industry, Commerce & Enterprise and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles inaugurated the event.

Hari Kishan Rathi, president of the association, said 230 garment houses and more than 600 brands participated in this 50th edition of the fair.

He also expected that business in the 50th edition of the fair and expo was likely to cross the previous year's business figures.

The finance minister appreciated the role of the association in promoting investment and employment in the state.

He also suggested that the association must focus on deepening the supply chain.

The West Bengal Garment Manufactures and Dealers Association, affiliated to the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, has over 500 members.
