Uber strengthens India leadership, appoints Pavan Vaish as the new Head of Central Operations

Kolkata, Jan 7 (IBNS): Uber,an on-demand ride-sharing company, on Monday announced the appointment of Pavan Vaish as the new Head of Central Operations. Pavan joins Uber with over 25 years of experience in building and leading global technology businesses.

Pavan was the co-founder and CEO of Daksh e-services, and grew it to a 40,000 people strong organization, while expanding its geographic footprint across Latam, Europe and Asia. Daksh is widely recognized as one of the most successful services acquisition in IBM’s history and Pavan spearheaded its integration with IBM.

Commenting on the new appointment, Pradeep Parameswaran, President, Uber India & South Asia, Uber said, “As we embark on our next wave of growth, we are building and strengthening a team of industry experts and veterans who appreciate the impact of ridesharing and are committed towards innovation for a better tomorrow. We are delighted to have Pavan Vaish join Uber India as the head of central operations. Earlier in his career, Pavan also co-founded Quadrant Infotech, an offshore data capturing business focused on the US market. A visionary among BPO industry leaders, Pavan has been guiding the industry toward achieving competitive advantages beyond labor arbitrage long before the onset of commoditization of BPO services.

In his numerous previous roles, Pavan has been the Global Chief Operating Officer at UnitedLex, where he was responsible for overseeing daily business operations and managing its business objectives across various geographies. Pavan was also the guiding force behind transformation of IBM Global Process Services from an emerging enterprise into one of the largest and most respected companies in the Global BPO industry.

Pavan is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He is also a Graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.
