State-run Air India's several flights hit due to technical glitch

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) Air India international and national flights were affected due to problem in passenger service system (PSS) software for six hours on Saturday morning.

"Air India flights are affected due to a technical glitch in the server. Our technical teams are on work and soon system may be recovered,'' said Air India official.

Thousands of passengers had a harrowing time Saturday morning at airports across the world as the airline's PSS software, which looks after check-in, baggage and reservation, did not function from 3.30 am to 8.45 am due to a technical glitch.

According to airline sources, the software, which is of Atlanta-based SITA company, was not functioning approximately from 0300 hrs to 0900 hrs Saturday. Consequently, boarding passes could not be issued at major airports across the world and various flights were delayed.

"The system has been restored. It has begun functioning. We regret the inconvenience that passengers had to face," said the national carrier's chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani.

"We are trying to regularise all the flights for the day. But there would be some delay of flights today. I am expecting a delay of around two hours. Because in morning, the whole system got disturbed," he added.
