Sensex touches lifetime high figure of 74085.99 as market closes in green

The BSE Sensex on Wednesday closed at a lifetime high, touching 74K level at 74085.99 on the strength of Bankex, Technology and IT stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 117.75 pts at 22,474.05.

High volatility was seen during the session, as the Sensex opened negative at 73587.70, sliding 90 pts. It was lost ground by 551 pts at 73321.48, days low. In last one hour it was bounced back 474 pts at 74151.27 , days high before closing at 74085.99, surging 408.86 pts from it previous close.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,497.20 and 22,224.35 pts respectively.

The stocks that boosted the market were Bankex by 0.99 pc, Technology by 0.87 pc and IT by 0.66 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced, while 12 declined.

The gainers were Kotak bank by 2.45 pc to Rs 1758, Bharti Airtel by 2.23 pc to Rs 1194.75, Axis bank by 2.07 pc to Rs 1123.50, Sun Pharma by 1.87 pc to Rs 1603.64.

The losers were Ultracemco by 1.91 pc to Rs 9651.55, NTPC by 1.74 pc to Rs 352, Maruti Suzuki by 0.82 pc to Rs 11574 and JSW Steel by 0.78 pc to Rs 813.
