Sensex falls 793.25 pts as market ends

The BSE Sensex on Friday dropped 793.25 pts to settle below 75K to 74244.90 on profit booking along with FPI sold off influenced by US inflation.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 234.40 pts at 22,519.40.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22726.45 and 22,503.7/ pts respectively.

Registering an all time high at 75038.11 on Wednesday, the Sensex opened in red at 74889.64, falling 149 pts. Throughout the session in remained under pressure as it registered days low at 74189.31, slumping 849 pts, before closing at 74244.90, tumbling down 793.25 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that dragged the market were Consumer Durable by 1.39 pc followed by Oil and Gas

by 1.28 pc, Health care by 1.23 pc and BSE services by 1.05 pc.

The Mid cap fell by 0.49 pc and Small Cap by 0.60 pc.

In 30 scrips, 3 advanced, while 27 declined.

The losers were Sun Pharma by 4.01 pc to Rs 1539.65, Maruti Suzuki by 3.17 pc to Rs 12274.60, Powergrid by 2.40 pc to Rs 3619.70, JSW Steel by 2.22 pc to Rs 864.20 and L& T by 2.04 pc to Rs 3678.20.

The gainers were Tata Motors by 0.67 pc to Rs 1019.95, TCS by 0.45 pc to Rs 4000.30 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.17 pc to Rs 2531.
