Kolkata, July 1 (UNI) Commuters reaching at Howrah and Sealdah stations after the overnight train journey and office goers in the city were having a trying time to reach destinations today following a 48-hour strike called by App-cab or on-line taxi -Uber and Ola - drivers demanding a higher percentage of profit and increase of fare.

Police detained three on-line taxi drivers for forcing other cab drivers to go off the road and join the strike, which affected a large section of commuters in the city and two major railway stations of Howrah and Sealdah.

Police said they detained three persons for obstructing cab drivers to run on the road and damaging a car near Grand Hotel in the heart of the city.

City's famous yellow taxi, notorious for refusal, has been charging a premium price, three to four times, alleged a woman outside the Howrah station after taking an overnight train journey.

Reports of intimidation and obstructions are also pouring in from different areas of the city preventing willing Ola and Uber drivers to carry on business even as some 25,000 on-line drivers joined the two-day strike which began early this morning.

Most of the people, who ride almost regularly, alleged their booking has been cancelled after waiting for 10/15 minutes.

The strike called by West Bengal Online Cab Operators Guild and other organisations demanding a higher percentage of profit alleged atrocity of policemen and demanded hike in the fare with immediate effect.

The luxury cab owners also joined the strike complicating the situation.
