Wife leaves for airport after a fight, husband stops her with a hoax bomb call

New Delhi/ IBNS: In a major drama, a vengeful husband brought the security personnel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on their toes with a phone call informing about his wife carrying explosives in her baggage, the media reports said.

On Tuesday, a woman waiting to board a flight in Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport was asked by the security personnel to step aside and have her handbag checked, said a Hindustan Times report.

The report said the woman was going to board the Bhubaneshwar flight after a fight with her husband and he decided to stop her with a hoax bomb call to the airport authorities.

The Delhi airport's call centre in Gurugram received a call at 5:45 pm reporting that a woman was carrying a bomb in her bag and gave his wife's description, said the HT report.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) checked the handbag and found her bag had no dangerous material after a thorough checking.

At 6.45 pm, the threat call was declared a hoax, a senior CISF officer said, the HT report said.

Deputy commissioner of police (Delhi airport) Rajeev Ranjan said initial inquiry revealed the call was made from Gurugram.

“The man who was identified turned out to be the woman’s husband. She told us that the couple had a fight after which she had left the house. Because the call was made from Gurugram, DIAL{Delhi International Airport Limited} has approached Gurugram police for further legal action against the man,” Ranjan said, the report quoted.
