What will happen after NRC even God doesn’t know: Assam BJP unit president

Guwahati, Aug 20 (IBNS): While less than 10 days are left for publication of the final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), many questions are raised among the people of Assam that what will happen of those people whose names would not be included in the final list.

The Supreme Court has given a directive to the NRC authorities to publish the final draft by August 31.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said on Tuesday said that the Assam government would make arrangements to provide legal aid to those persons excluded from NRC and would be given adequate opportunity to present their case before the Foreigners’ Tribunals (FTs).

The MHA has also increased the time limit to appeal before the Foreigners’ tribunals from 60 days to 120 days.

But, Assam BJP unit president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that – “we don’t know when the cases will dispose, even the God doesn’t know.”

The Assam State BJP president and MLA representing Sorbhog constituency said that – “Until the court declares them as the foreigner, they will continue to get all facilities."

On the other hand, the Assam State BJP president said that the government will do anything for the genuine Indians if their names are excluded from the final NRC.

On Monday, the activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad had staged a demonstration in front of the office of the State Coordinator of NRC, Guwahati demanding an error-free NRC.
