Kolkata/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today had lunch at the residence of a Matua community member at Baguihati in North 24 parganas, second straight day after the BJP leader had lunch at an adivasi house in Bankura on Thursday.

Before having fully vegetarian food at Nabin Biswas' house, Shah visited Harichand Guruchand Mandir, a temple of the Matua community, at New Town and offered prayers.

The Matua community handed over a memorandum to Shah when the latter visited Matua Mandir at New Town.

Union Minister Babul Supriyo and several other leaders were present.

Earlier, Shah hit out at the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government in West Bengal for its alleged appeasement politics, saying, "Appeasement politics is hurting the state’s tradition. "

After offering a special puja at the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Shah said his prayers to the Goddess Bhavatarini were for the overall welfare of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Bengal is the land of many spritual people like Swami Vivekananda, Pranavananda and Rishi Aurobinda, and my appeal to the people of the state is to remember saintly men and follow them for restoration of the glorious days," Shah told the waiting mediaperons after emerging out of the main temple, which was built by Rani Rashmoni in 1855 and Shree Shree Ramakrishna was one of the main priests in the 19th century.

Shah began his day's work by offering prayers to the Goddess Kali and later said whenever he finds time during the visit in the city he preferred to offer prayers to Goddess Bhavatarini at Dakshineswar.

He said his prayers to the Goddess revolved around the welfare of the country as a whole and to make India became the best place in the World.

Shah said Bengal is the land of many great people and " I would appeal to the people of the state to follow their path and restore the glorious days."

Later, Shah visited the house of classical singer Pt Ajay Chakraborty in his South Kolkata home-cum-institution "Shrutinandan".

The students performed in front of the visiting Union Home Minister where another Central Minister Babul Supriyo was also present.

Shah was greeted amidst blowing of conchshells and beating of drums by the students.

He had a cup of tea along with Chakraborty.

Hundreds of BJP supporters outside chanted slogans ''Jay Shree Ram" and "BJP Zindabad".

Shah then proceeded to EZCC to hold the BJP'S organisational meeting.

Yesterday, the union minister held organisational meeting at Bankura.
