West Bengal to form policy making body for Covid-19 response
Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that her government will constitute a global advisory committee, engaging Nobel Laureate Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, for Covid-19 response policies in the state.
"We have to plan for future at a time when there is no revenue due to the coronavirus lockdown and we don't know how long it will continue and we have to stay like this," Mamata Banerjee said.
"We will form a Global Advisory Board, engaging Nobel Laureate economist Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee and former regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO)- Swarup Sarkar, to plan for the future economy," Banerjee added.
Talking on the reopening of tea gardens in north Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee said that her government had not taken any decision on the matter yet.
"The Centre has asked us to reopen the tea gardens of West Bengal, but we are not taking any decision on the matter in haste as there few Covid-19 positive cases from north Bengal's Kalmpong are still active," Banerjee said.
"We are talking with the stakeholder to take decision on the reopening of tea garderns and estates," she added.
