West Bengal: COVID death toll crosses 400-mark, 426 fresh cases reported in last 24 hours

Kolkata/IBNS: With 426 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 8613, including 4743 active cases, 405 deaths and 3465 discharges, reports said on Monday.

According to a bulletin issued by state health and family welfare department, nine deaths and 162 discharges were reported in Bengal in the past 24 hours.

The bulletin stated that the recovery rate in West Bengal stood at 40.22 per cent.

The state health department said that with 9024 tests being conducted in the last 24 hours, West Bengal had tested 2,80,098 samples till date.

Presently, 22731 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 1,56,521 people are under home surveillance in the state, reports said.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal government on Monday extended the ongoing lockdown in the containment zones (affected area) up to June 30 to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.

The state government has also increased the gathering limits at the places of worship, marriage ceremonies and funerals from 10 to 25.
