West Bengal: BJP's Ghatal seat candidate Bharati Ghosh alleges tapping of her cell phone

Kolkata, Mar 26 (UNI) BJP's Ghatal Lok Sabha candidate Bharati Ghosh has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that her mobile phone was being tapped by the West Bengal Police and requested the  commission to probe the matter.

Her lawyer Pinaki Bhattacharyya has formally lodged the complaint with the Election Commission to investigate if the CID of the state police was keeping a tab on her cell phone.

Former IPS of West Medinipur Bharati Ghosh, accused of extortion cases,  has been on bail by the order of the Supreme Court of February 19, 2019, as no coercive action can be taken on her till further order.

Ghosh resigned from her post last year.

Meanwhile, a report from Jalpaiguri said that BJP may change its candidate for Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha seat.

BJP leader Mukul Roy said that since their candidate Jayanta Roy is a medic from government owned North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, he is yet to get release order from his service.

Roy said they were pursuing  to get release order early or else the dummy candidate may fill his post.

Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha seat will have second phase of election on April 18.
