'Terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences': India issues blunt warning at UNGA

India's Permanent Mission to the UN diplomat Petal Gehlot called Sharif's remarks "bizarre" and recalled that Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, was found living in Pakistan.

'Regime of the Army, by the Army and for the Army'

Taking aim at Sharif's comments on democratic rights and human values, Gehlot said Pakistan's capital was being "fortified against its own people".

"We heard some hypocritical homilies about democratic rights and human values from a regime whose capital at this very moment is being fortified against its own people. And that is happening because this is a regime of the Army, by the Army and for the Army," she said.

"Their puppets may come and go, but let us have no illusion who calls the shots," Gehlot added.

She further referred to Pakistan's 27th Constitutional Amendment and the lifelong immunity granted to the country's "real ruler".

India accuses Pakistan of supporting terrorism

Calling out Pakistan's "bigotry and hatred", Gehlot accused Islamabad of pursuing a dual policy on security and terrorism.

"The claim to uphold security during the day, they actually carry out terrorism at night," she said.

She also criticised Pakistan's treatment of minorities and rejected Islamabad's position on Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the region is an "integral and inalienable part of my country and will always remain so."

India raises PoK human rights concerns

Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian diplomat also highlighted alleged human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

"Let's turn our focus to PoK. Ask the people of Rawalkot about the wanton killings and human rights violations by the Pakistan government there," she said.

Responding to Sharif's remarks on religious tolerance, Gehlot pointed to Pakistan's blasphemy laws and treatment of minorities.

"The Pakistani regime has blasphemy laws as its mainstay. The world knows how Pakistan treats its minorities," she said.

Warning Islamabad against continued cross-border terrorism, Gehlot said India had demonstrated its resolve through its military response to terrorist threats.

"We demonstrated last year that terrorists will have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Our right to defend ourselves against terrorism will be exercised. And continued terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences," she said.

Gehlot also highlighted India's actions under Operation Sindoor against alleged terror infrastructure and rejected Pakistan's narrative of victory during the recent hostilities.

She stressed that all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally.
