New Delhi, Feb 15 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday wished Indian cricket team for starting their World Cup campaign on a winning note by beating arch-rivals Pakistan by 76 runs.

In his message to Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the President said, “My congratulations to you and all members of the Indian Cricket team on the victory in the first match of ICC World Cup 2015 against Pakistan."

He said: "The nation is proud of your achievement. I wish you continued success in the coming matches and am confident that the team will bring further glory to India".

Riding on a big knock of Virat Kohli, India beat arch rivals Pakistan by 76 runs to register a spectacular win in their World Cup encounter at Adelaide.

With their batsmen surrendering one after another, Pakistan were far away from the 301 run target India set for them riding on a scintillating century of Virat Kohli (107). Pakistan were all out for 224 runs in 47 overs.
