A video showing littered compartments of the newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has gone viral online, drawing widespread criticism and reigniting concerns about civic sense in public spaces.

The footage emerged just hours after the train’s inaugural run, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal’s Malda town.

The sleeper train operates on the Howrah–Kamakhya route, promising commuters comfort, speed, and modern infrastructure.

The viral video shows food wrappers, disposable plates, and trash scattered across coach floors and seats, sparking outrage among netizens.

Many questioned the attitude of some travellers toward public property, despite receiving a major upgrade in train facilities.

One social media user commented, “Honestly, this was expected behaviour from the citizens of India.”

Another added, “India doesn’t need enemies. We sabotage ourselves just fine.”

A third user remarked, “Expected!! What’s new here… Wait for orange gutka stamps.”
