Vande Bharat flights facilitated repatriation, outbound travel of more than 16.25 lakh people: Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi: Indian Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said international flights under Vande Bharat Mission, in addition to other modes, facilitated repatriation and outbound travel of more than 16 lakh people from different nations.

The Indian government had started the Vande Bharat Mission from May to evacuate Indians stranded abroad due to COVID-19-induced travel restrictions.

The mission is currently in its sixth phase.

Puri tweeted: "Vande Bharat Mission reached out to stranded & distressed people around the world & facilitated their return. People were also helped to fly out of the country.More than 16.30 lakh people have travelled through various modes including international flights to & from India."
