Uttar Pradesh: Woman charred to death after couple set themselves ablaze

Jaunpur/UNI: A woman was charred to death after a couple set themselves ablaze over a family dispute in the Shahganj area here, police sources said on Tuesday.

As per sources here, Ashok Kumar (50) and his wife Suman (48), residents of the Bharauli village in the Shahganj Kotwali area, had an altercation over a family dispute on Monday night.

As the matter heated up, the couple put kerosene oil and set themselves afire, leaving them critically burnt.

Hearing their screams, the neighbours rushed to the spot and sent them to the hospital in a critical state. However, Suman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment while Ashok is critical.

Police are investigating the incident.
