Uttar Pradesh: Wanted criminal held post-encounter in Prayagraj

Prayagraj/UNI: A wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested following an encounter in the Ghoorpur area, police sources said here on Monday.

According to sources, Ghoorpur police was carrying out a vehicle check near the airstrip at Rewa road, late Sunday night. The SOG in-charge, Yamunapaar, also reached the spot along with a team.

In due time, two motorcycle-borne suspects were spotted.

The police team tried to stop them, but they didn't. As the cops chased them, their bike lost balance and they fell.

Finding the cops coming close, the miscreants started firing.

In the retaliatory fire, one of the miscreants sustained a bullet injury in his leg.

However, his aide managed to escape.

The injured has been admitted to the hospital.

He was identified himself as Sunil Bhartiya, hailing from Bhandara in the Naini police station area.

He had several cases including dacoity, registered against him in various police stations.
